IRS Extends ACA Reporting Due Dates – December 28th 2015

December 29, 2015

Internal Revenue Service

Yesterday afternoon the IRS released their 4th notice concerning ACA reporting dated 2016 and it is still 2015! This notice extends the due dates for the 2015 information reporting requirements under section 6055/6056.  The cause?  It is most definitely the pushback from ALEs and Policy Providers regarding the unrealistic timeline for this new and complex reporting.

Specifically, the notice extends the due date for furnishing the 1095-Bs and 1095-Cs to March 31st, 2016 and the transmittals (1094-B/1094-Cs) are now due by June 30th, 2016 if filing electronically.  If you plan on taking advantage of this extension it is recommended that it is communicate to recipients.

To the many companies that are geared up and ready, do not take this as an excuse to procrastinate the inevitable.  We recommend that ALEs and Policy Providers continue to prepare their files so that they remain on track or in close proximity to the original deadlines. Although, the IRS is providing this break they are prepared to accept filings starting on January 2016.  Tab Service Company has fully developed and tested its system to allow clients the ability to generate and distribute their forms.
